At NIG, we’re experts in commercial insurance. Our experienced teams are focused on identifying and understanding the challenging risks faced by UK businesses. But what really sets us apart is our partnership approach with our brokers.

We believe in getting to know both the brokers we work with and their clients’ businesses, building trusted relationships that last for the long term. Our underwriting teams work with brokers to identify and understand their clients’ risks. Together with our risk control experts and risk management tools, we help clients reduce and mitigate risks in their organisations.

We also offer a wide range of products. We provide the flexibility to create tailored insurance cover that meets clients’ needs, and we aim to deal with claims quickly and fairly through a proactive claims approach.

Our trading model is designed to reflect the differing requirements of how brokers like to trade, with regional offices, a national trading centre, a dedicated schemes centre, an eTrade centre of excellence, and dedicated experts for specialist sectors.

We continue to listen to our brokers and improve our offering, to invest in our people and new technology. At NIG, we’re dedicated to making trading with us effortless, and we’re proud to have won the Best Insurer Extranet at the Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards for 2020 and 2021.

We are committed to delivering a robust service proposition and always seek to implement the right support to help our broker partners today and in the future.

Our history

NIG is a trading name of RSA.  In September 2023, RSA agreed to acquire the NIG business from Direct Line Group (DLG).  In joining forces with RSA, NIG significantly strengthens RSA’s SME and mid-market platforms, broaden its broker distribution network and online capabilities as well as expand its current product offering. This gives us a solid foundation to drive forward our significant growth agenda.

DLG and RSA have worked closely together to achieve the integration of NIG and FarmWeb into the RSA business and the operational transfer has been taking place from 1 May 2024.  You can find further details of the integration on our Integration Q&A  page, which is updated regularly.
